Adding Your First Instagram Account
Learn how to connect your Instagram account to Influxie safely and prepare it for managed engagement.
Adding Your First Instagram Account
Connecting your Instagram account to Influxie is the first step toward managing your growth. This guide walks you through the safe and secure process of adding your account.
Before You Begin: Prerequisites
Before connecting your Instagram account, make sure you have:
- Active subscription or free trial
- Instagram credentials - Your username and password ready
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled - 2FA must be ON; the wizard requires you to confirm it
- Instagram closed on all devices - Critical for security (explained below)
- A Chromium-based browser - The connection wizard only works in Chrome, Edge, or Brave. Firefox and Safari will show an error.
Important Security Warning: Influxie requires that Instagram be closed on all your other devices before connecting. Using Instagram on another device at the same time can trigger security checks on your account.
CRITICAL: You must close Instagram on ALL your other devices (phone, computer, tablet) before starting the login session. This is a mandatory security requirement, not optional.
Starting the Account Addition Process
Step 1: Add Account
From your dashboard, click the “Add an account” button in the top right corner (owner or admin only). This will take you to the checkout page.
Step 2: Select Your Plan
Choose your subscription plan:
- Monthly Plan: Ongoing access
Review the features included and click “Checkout” (or “Start trial” if your workspace is eligible for the one-time, per-workspace free trial).
Step 3: Complete Payment
You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s secure checkout to enter your payment information.
After completing payment, you’ll be automatically directed to the account setup page.
Connecting Your Instagram Account
The setup wizard has four steps. If you refresh the page mid-way, a “You previously started to connect your account” modal appears with Proceed or Cancel.
Step 1: Choose a Content Category (optional)
Pick the content category that best describes your account’s niche. This helps Influxie find relevant audiences when you use Automatic engagement mode. You can skip this step, or request a new category if none of the options fits.
Step 2: Confirm 2FA is On
Check the box confirming two-factor authentication is enabled on your Instagram account. 2FA is required — you cannot continue without it.
Step 3: Enter Your Instagram Username and Password
Not affiliated with Meta or Instagram. Influxie is an independent tool. See our Privacy Policy and Terms for how this works and what it means for your account. Influxie never stores your Instagram password — we only save your login, like a saved login.
Enter your Instagram username and password directly in the wizard form (not on the phone screen).
Privacy Note: Influxie does not store your login information.
Step 4: Confirm Instagram is Closed Elsewhere and Connect
Acknowledge that Instagram is closed on all your other devices, then start the connection. A window titled “Launching Instagram…” appears with a progress bar while Influxie prepares the connection. This can take up to 5 minutes.
Once the launcher is ready, an interactive phone screen appears where you respond to any 2FA code or verification challenge from Instagram. The on-screen phone waits for your input.
Note: Your account starts in “Pending” status. After a successful connection it moves to “No engagement setup” (if targeting isn’t configured yet) or “No session running” (idle). There is no “Active” status.
Once connected, you’ll see a success modal: “You have successfully connected your Instagram account to Influxie”. Click “Set up configurations” to continue.
Account Activation Complete
After successful connection:
- Your Instagram account appears in your account list
- Status shows “No engagement setup” (or “No session running” if configuration is already done) — there is no “Active” status
- You can now configure engagement settings
- Your account is ready for its first session
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
Issue: Account stuck in “Pending” status
Solution:
- Ensure you completed the login session process (this is required to move from Pending to a connected status)
- Check that you signed into the correct Instagram username
- Try reconnecting by clicking “Setup Account” again
Note: Your account will remain in “Pending” status until you complete the login session.
Issue: “Action Blocked” by Instagram
Solution:
- Stop the session
- Wait 24-48 hours before trying again
- Reduce your per-session limits
Issue: 2FA Not Working
Solution:
- Make sure you have your authentication device ready
- Check that Instagram can send codes to your number
- Keep 2FA enabled — it is required to connect your account
Issue: Connection Window Won’t Load
Solution:
- Check your internet connection
- Make sure you’re using a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave) — Firefox and Safari are not supported
- Wait the full 5 minutes for setup to complete

Common Questions
Can I connect multiple Instagram accounts?
Yes! Each account requires its own subscription slot.
What if I change my Instagram password?
You’ll need to reconnect your account through the login session process. You will need to reconnect your Instagram account to restart the connection.
Adding More Instagram Accounts
Once your first account is connected, you can add more (each is its own $65/month subscription). A few things to know:
- Add another account with the “Add an account” button on the Dashboard or Accounts page (owners and admins only).
- Switch between accounts using the account selector — you view one account at a time. There’s no side-by-side view.
- Accounts run independently. Each connected account can run its own session at the same time, with its own settings.
- You can’t move an account between workspaces. Each Instagram account belongs to one workspace. To use it elsewhere, cancel its subscription here and reconnect it in the other workspace.
For the details on buying another account, see Completing Your Purchase.
