Removing an Instagram Account

Sometimes you need to remove an Instagram account from Influxie. This guide explains how to handle these situations safely and manage your subscriptions accordingly.

Understanding Account Removal

In Influxie, “removing” an account means canceling its subscription, which suspends the account. It is not a permanent deletion — the account disappears from your list (which hides suspended accounts), but the data is retained and the account can be reactivated via the Stripe customer portal.

What suspension does:

  • Pauses activity on that account
  • Hides the account from your accounts list
  • Retains the account’s data so it can return if reactivated

What stays in your workspace:

  • Your workspace settings
  • Other connected accounts
  • Team member configurations
  • Billing history for that account’s subscription

Important: Canceling a subscription suspends the account — it is reversible via the Stripe portal. There is no separate “delete from Influxie” action.

Step By Step

To suspend an account by canceling its subscription:

Who Can Do What:

  • Owners and admins - Can cancel a subscription (opens the Stripe customer portal)
  • Editors and above - Can run “remove auth”, a separate operation that deletes the account’s session ZIP files and forces a reconnection on next setup (it does not cancel the subscription)
  • Viewers - Cannot cancel or remove auth

Step 1: Navigate to the Account Page

From the accounts page, click into the Instagram account you want to suspend.

Step 2: Cancel the Subscription

Open the “Account Info” tab. If you have permission (owner or admin), click “Cancel”.

Step 3: Confirm in the Stripe Portal

You’ll be redirected to this account’s subscription page in the Stripe customer portal. Complete the cancellation there.

Step 4: Account Suspended

The account is suspended and disappears from your account list and dashboard.

Subscription Considerations

When Removing an Account:

Your subscription for that account slot may continue billing until:

  1. You cancel the subscription - Via the Stripe customer portal
  2. The billing period ends - If you cancel immediately, you retain access until the period ends

Best Practice:

  1. Cancel the subscription via the Stripe portal
  2. Wait for the period to end if you want to use it through the end (cancel-at-period-end)
  3. The account becomes Suspended — no further action is needed in Influxie

Managing Subscriptions When Removing Accounts

Understanding Your Billing:

Each Instagram account has its own subscription ($65 USD/month). When you cancel:

  • You stop being charged for that account going forward
  • Cancel-at-period-end keeps access through the end of the current billing period
  • The account is then Suspended

When to Remove vs. Keep an Account

Remove an Account When:

  • You no longer manage that Instagram profile
  • The Instagram account was permanently deleted or banned
  • You’re restructuring your accounts
  • You want to stop paying for that account subscription

Keep an Account When:

  • Temporarily pausing activity (just stop sessions)
  • Taking a break (maintain the subscription)
  • Planning to resume using that account later

Troubleshooting Removal Issues

Issue: Can’t Cancel the Account

Possible Causes:

  • Insufficient permissions (only owners and admins can cancel subscriptions)

Solutions:

  • Contact an Owner or Admin to cancel the subscription
  • Stop any running sessions first
  • Verify your role permissions

Issue: Still Being Charged After Removal

Possible Causes:

  • Subscription wasn’t canceled
  • Billing period hasn’t ended
  • Multiple subscriptions for same account

Solutions:

  • Cancel the subscription in Stripe portal
  • Check for duplicate subscriptions
  • Contact Influxie support for billing assistance

Issue: Want to Undo the Cancellation

Solutions:

  • Owners/admins: reopen the Stripe customer portal and reactivate the subscription (for cancel-at-period-end) or resubscribe

Best Practices

Before Removing:

  1. Cancel the subscription if you don’t want future charges
  2. Inform team members of the change if multiple people are in the Influxie workspace

For a Clean Suspension:

  1. Stop all sessions on the account
  2. Cancel the subscription (opens Stripe portal)
  3. Wait for the billing period to end (optional, if cancel-at-period-end)
  4. The account becomes Suspended — no further step is needed in Influxie

Common Questions

Can I temporarily hide an account without canceling? There’s no “hide” feature currently. You can simply stop running sessions and leave the subscription active, or cancel the subscription (which suspends the account and hides it from the list).

What happens to my team’s access when I cancel an account? Team members will no longer see that account in the account list (suspended accounts are hidden). Access is removed automatically while the account is suspended.

Does canceling an account in Influxie affect the actual Instagram account? No. Your Instagram account continues to exist and function normally on Instagram. Canceling only suspends the Influxie subscription.

Next Steps

After removing or replacing an account, you may want to add a new Instagram account or configure engagement settings.
