Introduction

Influxie’s team collaboration features allow multiple people to work together on Instagram engagement. Understanding the four user roles and their permissions helps you build an effective team while maintaining appropriate access controls.

The Role Hierarchy

Influxie uses a hierarchical permission system:

Owner (Full Access — one per workspace)
└─> Admin (Owner − Workspace Deletion & Ownership Transfer)
└─> Editor (Admin − Team & Billing Management)
└─> Viewer (Read-Only Access, no configurations)

Each role inherits all permissions of the roles below it, with specific restrictions at each level.

The Four Roles Explained

Owner

Full access to everything

Owners have complete control over the workspace, including:

  • Workspace: Create or delete the workspace, transfer ownership
  • Team: Invite/remove team members and assign Admin, Editor, or Viewer roles
  • Accounts: Add (buy slots) and manage all Instagram accounts
  • Engagement: Full control of engagement settings and sessions
  • Billing: Manage subscriptions, payments, and invoices
  • Analytics: View all reports and data

Best for: Business owners and the person ultimately responsible for the account.

Admin

Full management access

Admins can manage almost everything, with these restrictions:

What Admins CAN do:

  • Invite team members and assign Editor, Admin, or Viewer roles
  • Remove team members, including other Admins (the Owner and the Admin themselves are blocked from removal)
  • Create and manage social accounts (including buying slots)
  • Control engagement settings and sessions
  • Access all analytics
  • Manage billing and subscriptions

What Admins CANNOT do:

  • Delete the workspace
  • Transfer ownership
  • Change the Owner’s role

Best for: Trusted managers and key team members who need full operational access.

Editor

Operational access

Editors can run sessions but can’t access sensitive functions:

What Editors CAN do:

  • Connect and reconnect Instagram accounts that the Owner/Admin has already purchased slots for
  • Configure engagement settings (engagement, interactions, sessions)
  • Start and stop sessions
  • View all analytics

What Editors CANNOT do:

  • Add new accounts or buy additional slots (that requires Owner or Admin)
  • See or manage billing, payments, or invoices
  • Manage team members or change workspace settings

Best for: Social media managers and staff who run day-to-day sessions.

Viewer

Read-only access

Viewers can see everything but can’t make changes:

What Viewers CAN do:

  • View accounts and analytics
  • Monitor session activity (configuration forms are gated to Editor and above)

What Viewers CANNOT do:

  • Make any changes to accounts or settings
  • Start or stop sessions
  • Manage team or billing

Best for: Clients who need visibility, executives, or anyone who needs to see but not touch.

*Admins can remove other Admins, Editors, and Viewers. The Owner cannot be removed — only transferred. The Owner’s own role dropdown and Save button are disabled.

Available invite roles: Editor (default), Admin, Viewer. The Owner role is deliberately not offered in the invite form.

Choosing the Right Role

When deciding which role to assign, ask yourself:

  1. Do they need to manage billing or team members?

    • Yes → Admin
    • No → Continue
  2. Do they need to run sessions?

    • Yes → Editor
    • No → Viewer
  3. Do they need to buy additional Instagram account slots?

    • Yes → Admin (or have the current Owner/Admin buy the slot, then an Editor can connect and configure it)
    • No → Editor

Common Examples

Small Business:

  • Owner: Business owner
  • Admin: Business partner or manager (optional)
  • Editor: Social media manager
  • Viewer: For transparency (optional)

Marketing Agency:

  • Owner: Agency owner
  • Admin: Account managers
  • Editor: Engagement specialists
  • Viewer: Clients (to see their progress)

In-House Team:

  • Owner: Department head
  • Admin: Team leads
  • Editor: Social media coordinators
  • Viewer: Executives and stakeholders

Common Questions

Can someone have multiple roles?

No, each person has one role. If they need more access, an Owner or Admin can promote them to a higher role.

Can Admins invite or promote people to Owner?

No — the Owner role only moves through ownership transfer. Invite roles are limited to Editor (default), Admin, and Viewer.

Can Admins remove the Owner?

No — the Owner can only be changed via ownership transfer. Admins can remove other Admins, Editors, and Viewers.

What if the only Owner leaves?

The Owner must transfer ownership to an existing team member before leaving — there is no “support sets a new Owner” path. Until the transfer is completed, the workspace keeps its current Owner. Always keep at least one active Owner.

Can Viewers see billing information?

No, Viewers cannot access billing at all. Only Admins and Owners can manage subscriptions and payments.
