Understanding Account Statuses
Learn what each account status means, how accounts transition between states, and what to do if problems arise.
Understanding Account Statuses
Each Instagram account connected to Influxie has a status that indicates its current state. Understanding these statuses helps you manage your accounts effectively and troubleshoot issues.
Account Status Types
Influxie accounts can be in one of six states: Pending, No engagement setup, No session running, Session running, Suspended, or Account error. Each status is color-coded in the dashboard for quick identification. There is no “Active” status.
Pending Status
What It Means:
Your account has been created but hasn’t completed the Instagram connection process. You need to complete a login session - a one-time setup where you securely log into Instagram through Influxie to connect your account.
How It Appears:
- Brand-coloured status indicator
- Label: “Pending”
- Action: Setup Account by connecting your Instagram account
Why You’d See This:
- You just added a new account but haven’t completed setup
- A subscription was just activated for a new account
What To Do:
- Click the “Setup Account” button
- Complete the login session process
- Enter your Instagram credentials when prompted
- Wait for successful connection
Important: You must complete the Instagram login session setup process to activate your account.
No Engagement Setup Status
What It Means:
Your Instagram account is connected, but you haven’t configured engagement targeting yet. The account is ready to be configured but will not run meaningful sessions until you set up engagement.
How It Appears:
- Brand-coloured status indicator
- Label: “No engagement setup”
- Action: “Setup engagement” button on the account page
What To Do:
- Click “Setup engagement”
- Configure your engagement targeting (Automatic or Manual mode)
- Set your Session tab options (Likes limit, Maximum run time)
No Session Running Status
What It Means:
Your account is connected and configured, and is currently idle. No session is running right now.
How It Appears:
- Grey status indicator
- Label: “No session running”
What To Do:
Nothing — this is a normal idle state. Start a session from the account page when you’re ready, or set up a recurring schedule.
Session Running Status
What It Means:
A session is currently running on this account.
How It Appears:
- Green status indicator
- Label: “Session running”
Best Practice: Regularly check your accounts’ statuses. If you see unexpected changes, review your subscription payment and account health. Do not use Instagram on any other device while a session is running.
Suspended Status
What It Means:
The account’s subscription has been canceled (via a Stripe webhook), so activity is paused. The account disappears from the main list (which hides suspended accounts) but the data is retained and the account can be reactivated.
How It Appears:
- Red status indicator
- Label: “Suspended”
Common Causes:
- The subscription was canceled (cancel-at-period-end or immediate)
- Payment failed and retry attempts were exhausted
What To Do:
- Owners/admins: open the Stripe customer portal via “Manage accounts”
- Reactivate the subscription (for cancel-at-period-end) or resubscribe
- The account returns to a connected status once payment is active again
Note: If payment failed and the account has never been set up, the whole account page is replaced by a “Payment issue” card. Owners/admins see a link to fix payment; editors/viewers are asked to contact their owner/admin.
Recovery Timeline: Reactivation via the Stripe portal is usually immediate once payment succeeds.
Account Error Status
What It Means:
Your account has hit a connection, authentication, or Instagram-side issue that needs manual attention. This is not a terminal state — the account can usually be restored by reconnecting.
How It Appears:
- Red status indicator
- Label: “Account error”
- Action: “Reconnect Instagram” button appears on the account page
Common Causes:
- Instagram password changed outside Influxie
- Two-factor authentication challenge or change
- Login session expired or connection setup failed
- Instagram flagged suspicious activity or temporarily restricted the account
What To Do:
Standard Reconnection:
- Click “Reconnect Instagram”
- Confirm 2FA is on and Instagram is closed on other devices
- Complete the login session again (similar to initial setup, up to ~5 minutes)
- After a successful reconnection the account returns to “No engagement setup” or “No session running” (not “Active”)
Persistent Errors:
- Check your internet connection
- Verify Instagram is accessible directly
- Ensure you have the correct credentials
- Reduce your per-session limits before retrying
- Contact Influxie support if issues persist
Common Questions
Can I run sessions while my account is in Pending status? No. You must complete the login session and reach a connected status (No engagement setup or No session running) before running sessions.
How long does it take for a Suspended account to come back after payment? Usually immediately after the subscription is reactivated in the Stripe customer portal. If it doesn’t update within a few minutes, contact support.
Will my data be lost if my account is Suspended? No. Suspension is reversible — your analytics and configuration data are preserved, and activity resumes once the subscription is reactivated via the Stripe portal.
Can I remove an account in Account error status? Canceling the subscription (which suspends the account) is owner/admin only and opens the Stripe portal. Separately, the “remove auth” action (editor+) deletes the session ZIP files — a different operation. Usually it’s better to try reconnecting first.
What’s the difference between Account error and Suspended? Account error means a connection/authentication issue that can usually be fixed by reconnecting. Suspended means the subscription was canceled (payment failure or manual cancel) and is reactivatable via the Stripe portal.
